Crude evaluations is a must exercise for oil producers and refiners both for accessing the benefits on their investments and value addition. Refinery margins largely depend on the quality of crude and refining capability. A wrong evaluation may lead to problems in the refining process, loss of yield, compromised quality, reduced production along with adverse environmental impacts and a high cost of effluents treatments. CSIR-IIP tests all the physicochemical properties of the crude oil as such along with the distillations of the crude oil. Subsequent fractions obtained by distillations (TBP) could also be tested for all the important physical and chemical properties along with the hydrocarbon component analysis. This evolution not only helps to assess the commercial value of crude oil by the oil exploration and production companies leading to pricing but also helps to determine the primary and secondary refining schemes of the feedstocks by the refiners. Blending and transportation need the crude assay data too. CSIR-IIP is equipped with the entire modern and latest instrument and using standard ASTM/IP/UOP/BIS/IIP methods and has experience of testing more than 500 crude oils and known for providing timely and accurate crude quality assays.
