Most of the research activities focus on development of corrosion control measures for internal corrosion of hydrocarbon handling equipments due to inherited impurities of hydrocarbons and severe operating conditions in up, mid and downstream operations. In addition, area of corrosion research encompass high temperature high pressure corrosion such as acidization of petroleum wells to enhance oil recovery, corrosion of gas turbine engine parts during maintenance, material compatibility and corrosion of IC engine parts exposed to various trial fuels and the most important, corrosion behaviour of new generation renewable bio fuels. Various corrosion inhibitor formulations have also been developed from non edible oils for controlling internal corrosion of crude oil and petroleum product transportation pipelines.
