Fluid Catalytic Cracking is widely known as the heart of the petroleum refinery. CSIR-IIP has started work in FCC area since its inception. In this process, heavy range hydrocarbons of the refinery fractions are converted to LPG, gasoline and diesel range products. Almost all of the Indian refineries are equipped with this process. In the past, FCC area was involved for the development of catalyst/additives/passivator with different companies like M/s IOCL, HPCL, RIL, and Patchem Ltd etc. In the present scenario the petrochemical demand is huge in India; and hence the area has started working for the maximizing of olefins production.
