The group is involved in developing and commercializing catalysts for the sweetening of streams like LPG for the last 20 years. The research group works in the interface of Chemistry – Chemical Engineering involving catalysis – chemical reaction kinetics with an objective to develop novel environmentally friendly sweetening catalyst for mercaptan removal which can then be scaled up, licensed, and commercialized in refineries both in India and abroad. The group has published over 50 research papers and a recipient of the prestigious “Most Significant CSIR Technology Award” in the year 2015 for the development and commercialization of LPG sweetening catalyst – Thoxcat ESTM. The catalyst has been well guarded with 9 international and national patents.
