CSIR-IIP involved in a wide range of scientific and industrial research activities from petroleum refining to petrochemicals including alternative and renewable energy. Catalyst development is one of the main activities for the above processes as most of the present industrial processes are all based on catalysts. Main steps involved in the development of the catalysts are, computational studies, mechanistic investigations, catalyst characterisation and screening of the catalysts. Further, long term stability of the catalysts under industrially relevant operating conditions is another important aspect of the catalyst development. For this, different scales of operating plants are institutionalised depending on the type and severity of the reactions involved.
The Institute accommodated with rich experimental facilities from lab, bench to pilot scale plants of batch, semi batch and continuous modes. The particular nature of the experimental set up may be found from the information available elsewhere.
